From Virginia: The words in this song feel more valuable to me now than ever before. I've been approached many times lately by people struggling to find acceptance because of being different and who have taken inspiration from the lyrics. Inclusivity means a great deal to our band. When we play this live, we play it for everyone who feels marginalised in our society.

1. Loving The Skin You're In - Words and Music - Virginia Kettle
Bad media's been feeding ya, a great big pack of lies,
Getting away with murder, killing the spirit inside.
Too big, too small, not beautiful, too old, too fat, too thin,
Well come just as you are tonight, loving the skin you're in.
From the bottom to the top, be yourself no matter what,
Your identity keep clear, stick to all that you hold dear,
Let loose tonight, the precious child within,
Loving the skin you're in.
They sold you down the river, in the doldrums now you dwell,
Misty-eyed illusions you held together well.
Too posh, too rough, not cool enough and your hair is wearing thin,
Well come just as you are tonight,
Loving the skin you're in.
From the bottom to the top, be yourself until you drop,
Your identity keep clear, stick to all that you hold dear,
Let loose tonight, the precious child within,
Loving the skin you're in.
Your fingerprint encryption code is written in your hand,
Come just as you are tonight, every women, every man.
From the bottom to the top, be yourself don't ever stop,
Your identity keep clear, stick to all that you hold dear,
From the bottom to the top, be yourself no matter what,
You're fantastically unique, find your voice and let it speak,
Cut loose tonight, the wild child within,
Loving the skin you're in.

Its two fantastic bands cooperating to make something really special. A folk super group if ever there was one.

John Drumbo French from Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band worked with Thompson on two albums along with Fred Frith and Henry Kaiser.
Those two French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson albums led me to this.
Also, Richard Thompson taught Hugh Cornwell (of The Stranglers) how to play the bass guitar in a band when they were both at the same school (Emil and The Detectives?).
With a career spanning 50 years and playing with two of my heroes (French and Cornwell) Thompson has produced a fascinating EP. yellowcakeuf6

Such a broad range of roots music styles; trad English, modern Scottish, Americana.
The first track is fabulous, took me right back to teenage years listening to Fairport.
Hope it gets the recognition it deserves Derrick Turner
